101 in 1,001 – 2010 Edition

Back in 2007, I first put together a list of 101 goals for the 1,001 days. This was an idea popularized by Triplux, and it was very trendy in blogging circles back then. Heck, it still is today.
I’ve gone back and forth on whether or not I wanted to do this again. When I finished my challenge on April 27th of this year, I was initially discouraged by the fact that I only accomplished 20 of my 101 goals. Over time, and with assurances of my friends, I actually came to be proud of this number – it’s 20 things I might not have otherwise done in my life, right? It inspired me to create and read broadly and start an exercise regimen. Can’t complain about that.
Still, I wasn’t immediately sold on doing this again. In the last issue of the FitF newsletter, I wrote that I thought it was more important to focus on reminding myself of the stuff I liked to do. That’s been my approach this year.
But then I found out Coworker Who Is My Twin had started her own 101 in 1,001. And then, it was on.
… okay, really, it’s not me being competitive. But she did point out that without goals, she tended to default to the behavior of staring at the TV, even though she (like me) has many interests that could fill her time.
I’ve always been susceptible to peer pressure, and the thought of doing this again seems fun to me again, so here goes. Some of these will be recycled from the last one; some will be totally new. I’ve changed in three years, as it turns out. Let’s hope I change just as much in another three.
I began this challenge on 7/16/2010, and it will finish on 4/12/2013. Same format as last time – struck through items are completed; italicized items are abandoned.
